Eighty percent of learning is visual for school children. So clear vision is critical for effective learning and performances in school children. Not only vision but an eye exam by an optometrist ensures overall health of children's eyes. Early detection and management of developmental issues and diseases of children's eyes lead to prompt corrections. Use the guideline below to find at what age and how often all children should get the comprehensive eye care to maintain healthy eyes.

infants

(6-12 mon)

Infants should receive a comprehensive baseline eye exam to rule out any issues with normal development.

pre schooler (3-5 years )

Preschoolers should receive at least one comprehensive eye exam between the ages of 3 to 5 to ensure eyes are healthy and clear.

 

School aged

(6-18 years )

School-aged children (6 to 18 years) should receive a comprehensive exam prior to entering the first grade and annually thereafter
